Why?

So I’m at the OKC zoo participating in a Tamron photo workshop, but the workshop has ended and now it’s time for the serious photography.  Time to break out the Brownie Hawkeye and the Holga.

I’ve shot all the film in the Brownie and I’m at the Island Life exhibit shooting a duck with the Holga lens poking through a gap in a lattice fence at a duck.  There’s a boy, maybe 10 or so next to me.  He looks at me with a strange expression and asks “what are you doing?”  I tell him I’m taking photos with a cheap, junky, plastic, silly camera.  I am the appropriately honest type, after all.  He gives me an even stranger expression and asks “why?”  Why?  Why else?  No thought, no pause, no second guess.  “Because it’s fun.”

I’ll add a duck photo when the film comes back from the lab because that’s fun too.
